What are healthy ways for teens to lose weight?

I am 14 and my Middle school prom is coming up and I’m scared I won’t find the right dress and I also just discovered I’m a tad bit overweight. My mom keeps saying it’s okay but it really isn’t and I need to find a way to lose about 10 pounds in the next like 3 months..THANKS!

Okay, so this is from my experience.

For breakfast, eggs are the best choice. I read it in a magazine somewhere but eggs actually help you!
For lunch/dinner, I usually eat subways. Veggie delight is the best. I order Italian herbs and cheese, put swiss cheese, toasted, lettuce, tomato, onions, (light) mayo, and vinegar.

The point is, you’ve got to cut the junk food. If you want to lose weight, cutting junk food will help immensely. Instead of candy and sweets, eat an orange or an apple! Strawberries and raspberrys are good too. Also, cut the soda and FLAVORED (which is FAKE SUGARED JUICE) juice! Replace it with lots of water, and some milk once in a while. If you want something sweet to drink, drink Tropicana Orange Juice. From my experience, that’s the only REAL juice I’ve seen out there. Once in a while, I drink pomegranate juice too.

Also, I now have a habit in looking at the package for the calories. I can only limit myself into comsuming 2000 calories a day.

Oh, and you can find out if juice is not real juice by looking at the bottle. Usually they put it in tiny letters so you won’t find out. But its fake if it says Flavored.

& of course, you HAVE to excercise. Try walking up flights and flights of stairs. Walk the long way home (if its safe of course!) or dance crazily to your music (I do that, its fun AND healty).

WARNING: Do not starve yourself! I repeat, DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF! Don’t skip meals because once you eat again, you’ll gain all the weight back (and possibly gain more). This is because of the metabolism that had depleted.

I’m 14 by the way… and by following these rules, I lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks. Yeah, I use to be 120 lbs, but now I’m 110 lbs.

I hope this helps? :)

Healthy weight loss tips for teens?

I’m 15 years old.
I stand at about 5′2.
I weigh around 130-140.
It fluctuates constantly.

My mom was always a "curvy" girl at my age.
Once she hit her twenties she started getting underweight.

I don’t exactly wanna waste my childhood/teenage years
being at a weight that’s uncomfortable for me. I don’t wanna
"wait it out" I try eating healthy and I exercise for about 30 mins
a day but It’s difficult for me to drop just one pound!

Exercise tips, Healthy foods, anything I can do? – Thanks
Try to keep the answers positive- I suffer from anxiety and depression. The last thing I wanna hear is criticism.
I AM exercising. I do sports occasionally. I don’t want pills. Special foods and where I can find them would be better.

well last year i was 16, 5"6 and 240 i lost 100 pounds by completey cutting off soda, using less salt in my foods, drinking green tea, eating just a little healthier. And using the treadmill about 3 times a week ( the secret for me was putting the treadmill on 2.5-3.0 while watch a movie/show on my computer, sometimes i was on it for like 2-3 hours will out even realizing it ( i suggest headphones and an action movie, it pumps your adrenaline up and you end up walking faster). Hope it helps.

What are some weight loss tips for teens?

Nothing bad please.

Don’t let peer pressure make you want to lose weight. As a teen the only reason I wanted to lose weight was because of other boys and girls. Walk around your neighborhood 3 or 4 times a week, and don’t eat junk food.

If you do eat junk food a lot stop slowly. Start eating less and less of it. Most people eat junk food but limit their intake. That is the point of weight watchers, they eat what they want, but limit how much they eat. You also have to exercise. There are no ways around it. I have been there.
